Our 42-pound black-and-tan German Shepherd mix likes to circle and paw at his bed before settling, so we chose the Large Size, Upgraded Nail Resistant version. At 100 cm (39.4 inches) across, it gives him room to turn and lie on his side without hanging over the edge.
The bed has a bright blue marine print, a clear raised rim, and a flat water-filled center. I put it on a smooth mat in the shade, filled it slowly, left room for movement, and checked the cap and surface before letting him on. He sniffed the rim, made a slow circle, and settled. The center moves gently under a paw and calms when he stops.
The Large size takes up real floor space and is awkward to move once full, so I decide on placement first. I keep it away from gravel, sharp edges, and chewing, and I supervise the first uses. I do not treat the upgraded version as puncture-proof. When the weather cools, I drain it, wipe it clean, let it dry completely, and store it flat.
The extra room works well for his warm-afternoon rests. It is a good fit for a larger dog that likes to turn before settling, as long as there is a smooth, shaded place for it.

I move him inside when the patio gets hot and keep the bed away from sharp edges.
Once it is filled, it is awkward to move, so I choose the spot before adding water. It needs a smooth, level base, and I supervise the first few uses, keep his nails trimmed, and redirect him if pawing turns into chewing. When the season changes, I drain it, wipe the vinyl, let it dry fully, and store it flat. The low entry and roomy surface work well for him, so I am giving it five stars.

Living in Florida means its hot pretty much all the time. My old lab has arthritis and the heat makes her miserable. This bed kills two birds with one stone - cools her down and the water acts like an orthopedic cushion. She spends half her day on this thing. Easy to wipe clean too when she tracks mud on it.
The idea is great but my dog hates it. He stepped on it once, felt the water move underneath him, and got scared. Hasn't touched it since. I think it works well if your dog isn't a coward like mine lol. Quality seems fine, just not for us.
I honestly didn't think this would last a week. I have a tabby, Mittens, who thinks everything is a scratching post. But it's been getting unseasonably warm in our apartment and I felt bad for her. The material on this is way thicker than pool floats, thank god. She did a few test scratches and it held up fine. Now she sprawls out on it all afternoon. Its nice not to worry about those toxic gel beads if she ever did manage to puncture it, since its just water. Highly recommend for skeptical cat owners.

My golden retriever Buster is a walking furnace. Even with the fans going, he pants all night. Got this bed a couple of weeks ago and it's been a massive help. He was a bit weirded out by the wobble at first, took him maybe a day to trust it? Now he sleeps soundly. Its heavy when you fill it up though, so pick your spot before you add the water! Durable material too, he tried to dig a nest on it and no leaks.

Das Befüllen mit Wasser war am Anfang etwas fummelig, es hat eine Weile gedauert bis ich den Dreh raus hatte. Aber wenn es erstmal gefüllt ist, bleibt es kühl. Max mag es, das ist das Wichtigste. Ein Stern Abzug nur wegen dem ersten Befüllen.
Was so excited for this. My lab, Rocky, gets so hot. Filled it up carefully, but after just a few days, I found a small puddle under it. Checked everywhere, seems like a slow leak from a seam. Very disappointing for the price.
We have a Great Dane mix, Zeus, and he's a big lump of fur. Summers here are brutal. We've tried everything, even special cooling vests. This water bed is the only thing that's really worked consistently. It's been a few months now, and it's holding up amazingly well, even with his big paws. No leaks, no tears. We just top up the water every now and then. He goes straight for it after his walks. Best money spent on pet stuff in a long time. Definitely recommend it for anyone with a big dog. Or any dog really.
