Measure before you cut
Measure around your dog’s neck where the collar will rest while the dog stands naturally. Keep the tape level and leave comfortable room. Compare the measurement with the listed Small 35 cm, Regular 45 cm, or Large 65 cm choice and with the current description’s approximately 27 in / 70 cm upper neck size.
Include the coat in the fit decision. Long or thick fur can hide part of the light and can make the collar feel tighter when the dog moves. Check that the collar will not press on the neck, slide toward the ears, or interfere with the dog’s ordinary harness or leash.
Trim gradually and recheck
Start with the largest workable length and remove only a small amount at the exact point named in the instructions. Refasten the collar after each small trim and watch your dog sit, turn, walk, and shake. A cautious pause between cuts is easier to correct than an over-short collar.

Test the light before the first walk

Test the collar with the dog’s coat, harness, and ordinary walking position. If fur covers too much of the tube or the dog reacts to the light, use a different mode, fit, or visibility layer. Comfort and the dog’s behavior should decide whether the collar stays on.
Keep leash control separate

Before the first night walk, practice the complete routine in a calm area. Stop using the collar if it is cracked, chewed, loose, unusually hot, or not behaving as expected. A rechargeable accessory is only useful when its condition is clear. Replace the routine or ask the seller for help when a connector or closure is uncertain.
