Read the supplied care directions first
Start with the cover and fabric information that came with the bed. It is the right reference for the actual materials, removable parts, permitted cleaners, water temperature, and drying method. A large pet bed is not automatically safe for the same program as a smaller cushion.
Do not fill in missing instructions from another product. If the supplied information does not describe soaking, machine washing, tumble drying, or a particular detergent, keep those steps out of your routine. The word “washable” alone is not a complete method.
Clear the bed and working area
Move toys, blankets, bowls, and small objects away before cleaning. Give your dog another resting spot so you can reach the center, the raised edge, the joins, and the floor around the bed. A clear area makes hair and seam wear easier to see.
Work in sections instead of twisting or dragging the entire bed. Start at one end, move across the sleeping surface, and finish around the border. This is easier on the fabric and keeps the large bed in a stable position.
Remove loose hair gently
Use a vacuum or gentle hair tool that does not pull at the cover. Move over the central surface first, then the inner edge, outer border, and usual shoulder or paw areas. Pause if threads catch or the tool begins to tug.
Hair often settles where the dog leans against the raised edge. Include those joins in every fuller check. Removing loose fur before spot care keeps it from becoming damp and makes the next inspection more reliable.
Spot clean small marks
For a small mark, follow the permitted method in the supplied directions and test it in a hidden area first when appropriate. Keep moisture and product limited to what the instructions support. Blot rather than scrub if the material calls for a gentle touch.
Avoid inventing bleach mixtures, fragrance sprays, long soaks, or stain formulas. If a mark has reached an inner component, covers a large area, or cannot be identified, pause and seek care advice for the actual material instead of guessing.
Air and dry the surface
Leave the cleaned area open until it is fully dry. Do not cover damp fabric with a blanket or press the bed against a wall where air cannot reach the edge. Thick seams and raised borders can stay damp after the center feels dry.

Inspect seams and edges
