The low-speed grinder makes short, careful nail-smoothing passes feel manageable at home.
I run it for a few seconds while she settles beside me, then pause between nails and check the warmth before moving on. The lower setting makes these little maintenance sessions feel manageable instead of turning into a whole project.

We started with the grinder switched on a metre away and a handful of treats, and after three evenings she stopped backing off. Now she holds still for one paw at a time while I work in short passes on low speed, pausing to check the nail isn't getting warm. It's quiet enough that she doesn't flinch when it touches a nail, and the edges come out smooth enough that her claws no longer catch on the sofa. It takes longer than a quick clip, but the calm is worth it.
Much calmer nail trims now. The low setting is quiet enough that my dog does not bolt, and two short sessions a week keep his nails smooth.
My corgi loses it over clippers so I only use this to soften the sharp ends after a trim. Letting him sniff it while it runs first actually helped. Takes way longer then clipping though, but he sits still for it.

I will start by saying. My dog is not a fan of her nails being done. Ive tried a Dremel she wouldn't let me anywhere near her with it. She has learnt if I have the nail clippers she just gets extra sucky and lays on tops of them. I honestly thought I was gonna be stuck paying 15 bucks a month to have someone give her a manicure. I Introduced this to her with a ton of treats. We've since completed our 2nd nail session with this and as long as I pay her in treats for each nail as I go along she has no problem letting me get threw all her nails. I have a 50lb dog for reference and so far its completely replaced the nail clippers she hates
was worried this would be cheap plastic junk given the price but it feels sturdy. my boxer sat through the whole thing. tip: do small bursts so the nail doesnt get hot from the friction. works great though.

The grinder is nice and sleek, definitely quieter than the dremel I have in the garage. However, I have a Great Dane and his nails are like rocks. It takes a while to get through them even on the high speed. Battery held up though. If you have a huge dog, just know it takes some time.
